Baby Names I could do with out.

I've been sitting on this for a while, because well it's kinda mean. And judgemental. But I'm feeling mean and judgemental. Things are going on in my brain that are making me crazy and hating life, so I have to take it out on people I don't know about what they name their kids...First off throw a stone back at me because I named my son Oscar. I wanted to name him Samuel Oscar, but I had to switch it because his dad's last name starts with a B, and one of my best friends told me "YOU CAN NOT GIVE YOUR SON THE INITIALS S.O.B." So I switched. I love it. I don't hear it very often yet it's not something silly. Plus it's a family name. My grandpa who I love had a brother named Oscar. So go ahead tell me your dog's name is Oscar, I've heard it before. You know how many pug dogs are named Oscar? A MILLION!
First off I have to go after people who spell common names funny. I could have gone and spelled Oscar like this: Oskar, to be cool and different, and then I thought, wait, it's already different enough. Just because every other kid has that name doesn't mean you have to spell it different to be different. If there are too many people with the same name and you don't like it, don't name your kid that.
Here's a list of names that I've compiled that I think are dumb silly. In MY OPINION!
Sienna
I dunno it just sounds silly to me.
Sailor
I know, I know, someone just named their baby this, but REALLY? Have you heard of Sailor Moon? It's anime...
Sincere
I also saw it spelled Cinsere, wow.
Usnavy
If you look close...it's U.S. Navy. Awesome
Brody
I think it's just because I don't like Brody Jenner all that much. But really Bro really.
Ever
Meh.
Rowan
Rowan what?? a boat?
Ever Rowan
Someone I kinda know of was seriously going to name a little girl this.
Greyson
Summer Buhreeze
I can't remember where I saw this one, but yes that's how they spelled Breeze...
Poppy Honey
I think Leslie just made this up.
Satchel
Famous People are silly...
Poet or Poem,
I can't remember which one it was that the crazy hippy named him. HIM...
Brick
from that new show The Middle. I like the show, just not the names...
Lyric
Seriously people, just because your famous
Zowie Bowie (David Bowie...really? Really...)
Enoch
Alexis (Like Kanye says "couldn't afford one so you called your daughter alexis)
Alize...like the cheep malt liquor...awesome!
Chance
ick, I don't know it just sounds lame to me.
Chase
Right up there with Speed.
I think the weirdest name though has to be Pilot Inspektor...or however he spells it.

  1. I like Oscar; it reminds me of a favorite author, Oscar Wilde. I wish more people would stick with family names instaed of trying to be cool hipsters.

  2. Thanks! I think that too, but sometimes old names bother me too, about naming family names. "Sorry Grammie Clara but I won't name a daughter Clara, no matter how much I love you!"
My uncle who is a designer liked it, and on occasion calls him Oscar d'Larenta(however it's spelled) My uncle also has told me that I'm not allowed to call him anything BUT Oscar. Too late, I call him Punk, or Punkie, and sometimes Boogie, because he likes to dance.

  3. I know someone who named her kid Piper after some lame-o character in some Lame-O TV show. Now this poor child goes to school with my kid and I feel bad cuz she was named after some chick in a show that is now canceled.

I also cant stand first names that sound like last names like Mason. irks me. But i should shut up because I am one of those annoying people who names their kid a name that no one at the Dr. office can ever pronounce but shit at least my names are weird for cultural reasons and in other countries they are normal and common.

  4. Ugh! The only thing I can think of when I hear about dumb names is "Ricky Bobby? He has two first names?" I love that movie!
My friend knows a guy named Winston...And he's under 80...I make fun of him even though I've never met him.
Again with my friend, I stayed with her in S.D. and uhm totally butchered names of her cousins and of her brother's friend...I'm such a white girl! I have a hard last name to pronounce so I know all about the not being able to pronounce.

  5. my sons teachers name is piper! hilarious. she is too adorable to have that name too! I wish I could put her last name on here cause it makes it soo much more ridiculous! We had to screw up our daughters name by spelling it differently and now no one can pronounce it!

  6. I hate to admit it, but I liked the name Greyson...for some reason i don't know. And I like the name Macon too, but I can't use it cause it is like Macon Bacon. I am way into odd names though. I also like Lucia,(procounced Loo-sh-a) and Turynn, I kinda made that one up I think..lol And I love Landon, and someday London. But I am way agains ryhming names or all the names with the same first letter, so I am screwed if I ever have kids..haha

  7. I think it would be an epic fail of child-naming if a kid's name was: Mason Jar. Although, in its own weird way, funny. Traumatizing, though.

  8. A guy at my former work place, kept asking if I was going to name Oscar.."Oscar Myer" I think he was trying to be funny but coming from a man over 35, it wasn't.
I think to pull Mason Jar off and make it REALLY fail you have to spell Jar different. Like Jahr.

  9. Too true! Would it be truly awful of me to suggest that had your son been conceived in Bologna Italy, that he be named Oscar Meyer Bologna (last name)? Because, frankly, that gives me a case of the giggles.
